Matemwe Bungalows

Located on the East Coast of the magnificent Zanzibar Island - right opposite Mnemba Atoll.

Matemwe Bungalows has 12 luxury ensuite rooms perched on a coral rock, surrounded by the best beaches of Zanzibar. A relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, two intimate swimming pools, lush tropical gardens, and sumptuous cuisine including fresh seafood make Matemwe the ultimate tropical paradise.

Enjoy unforgettable views of the Indian Ocean whilst relaxing at the pool, having a massage or whilst sipping a cocktail from the comfortable couches and hammocks on your private verandah.

The proximity to the Mnemba atoll means that Matemwe is ideally located for SCUBA diving and snorkeling. Dives and diving courses are available and Matemwe's wooden dhows take guests for snorkeling or for a fish barbecue on one of the deserted beaches close by.

Cozy dining area has sea views on one side and tropical forest view on the other.
The comfortable open air lounge  offers stunning views of the beach and ocean. On rainy days, billowy cloth shades keep out the mist!
The ocean views inspire total relaxation, and leisurely dining at your own pace.
Lunch is buffet style offering a wide variety of delicious local seafood delicacies!
Dinner is served by candlelight in the dining area or request a private, intimate dinner on your bungalow veranda!

Pure white sandy beaches await! But swimming at low tide (shown) is really impossible.
Guests enjoy comfy loungers on the beach.
Bungalows are situated on a coral rock hillside overlooking the ocean.
Each bungalow is surrounded by tropical plants, trees and flowers.
A large platform bed faces the veranda with the ocean beyond.
Soft solar lighting add a cozy touch.
The one level bungalows boast a variety of areas for lounging, including this corner with a daybed. 
Zanzibar style chairs face the veranda and ocean.
Beaded entrance to the bath area adds to the bungalow's charm.
Windows are plentiful,  inviting ocean breezes, the sounds of the sea and  warm  sunlight.  Beautiful wooden plantation blinds can be closed for nap time and during the  evening.
Roomy bathroom includes robes and plenty of  bath products.
Fragrant frangipani flowers are scattered across countertops!
Spacious shower area.  Water is solar powered.
Toilet area is situated behind a stone wall for privacy.
The best feature of each  bungalow is the half moon shaped veranda situated directly over the water.  Thick soft cushions are provided for the hammock and veranda daybed. 
At high tide feel the ocean spray as waves crash right beneath this exquisite lounging area!
