During one of our gorilla
treks in Rwanda, we were part of a group of 8. Right from the start
two people decided to be completely obnoxious. They pushed and shoved
while competing for the best positions with no regard for rest of us.
At one point the gorilla family settled down in a
clearing. This was our first opportunity to see the family together
and to watch the silverback interact with the younger ones! Suddenly the two fools bumped into each other and proceeded to
argue loudly! Our poor guide tried to maintain the peace, - "Sorry,
sorry, we are the same team" is all he could muster while the rest of
us just stood there dumbfounded!
The gorillas then promptly jumped up and disappeared
- after that our viewing was not the same. A good part of the hour was
wasted by two stupid people who disregarded the protocols of gorilla
trekking.
Please be respectful when in the company of the
gentle gorillas!
