HOME

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is owned by SACOLA, a Rwandese community trust with conservation and socio-economic development objectives.  The lodge has been conceived and constructed, and will be operated and managed by Governors Camp, one of the most respected names in luxury tourism in East Africa.  SACOLA, which represents some 6,000 households in the area adjacent to the Parc National des Volcans, will use rental and other income from the Lodge to achieve its conservation and socio-economic objectives.

The lodge has provided immediate benefits to the local community in the form of employment, with up to 650 laborers on site at any one time.

The lodge itself comprises a main lodge building, including bar, dining room, library, games room, reception, shop and community awareness centre, and 2 guest suites, 5 cottages and one family complex.  The lodge will accommodate 16 – 20 clients in the utmost comfort.

All guest rooms and suites are individual cottages carefully positioned on the undulating site to take full advantage of the wonderful views of the Virunga Volcanoes whilst retaining as much privacy as possible.  All guest cottages comprise sitting room, fire place, dressing room, large bathroom with all modern amenities and veranda.

These pictures were taken in September 2007 just after the opening!

It is located near the parking areas for Group 13 gorillas.
