HOME

Discerning travelers consider Sand Rivers to be one of the finest lodges on the continent, with its unique blend of timeless safari elegance combining with the rigors of a genuine bush adventure.

Sand Rivers is set on a rocky peninsula with magnificent views over a vast sweep of the Rufiji river, its exposed sandbanks home to hippo, crocodile and spectacular bird life. The lodge is small but perfectly formed; the cottages are grand and open fronted, the mess imposing, the cooking excellent, and the service excellent and at-your-whim.

Spacious dining room, pool and bar overlooking the river.

Standard Rooms - 5 double open-fronted cottages, build of stone and thatch, overlooking the Rufiji River and raised on wooden platforms. En-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and showers.

Suite Rooms - 2 double open-fronted cottages, build of stone and thatch, overlooking the Rufiji River and raised on wooden platforms. En-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and showers. Private plunge pools.

Rhino House  - One-bedroom house a short distance away overlooking the river. Private dining. Private game drives and activities but boating is shared with other clients. Private plunge pool.

Kiba Point is a private 8 bed lodge, taken on an exclusive basis, consisting of 4 cottages (2 with large double beds and 2 with twin beds) set on the banks off the Rufiji River, each room with their own private plunge pool. There is a large swimming pool in main communal area.
