The Retreat is a luxury safari destination situated in rhino land, the most remote corner of the Selous Game Reserve, far away from other camps and lodges, assuring total privacy and an undisturbed individual experience of the African bush.

It is the place to reawaken the senses and the soul, chilling out in a luxury of services, design, natural materials and overwhelming views and sounds while exploring the remote bush and studying the undisturbed behaviors of the animals surrounding the lodge.

The lodge was built with care and respect towards nature and this special place on top of a small hill, on the shores of the mighty Ruaha River in full awareness of the privilege to build a lodge in nature untouched for centuries. Wherever possible, with supporting
technologies, alternative energy, like solar power, has been chosen.

The building and decorating materials use the principles of the 5 elements. Old techniques from different African and Asian nomads have been applied in combination with Feng Shui architecture to create the special atmosphere that is, The Retreat.
