SERIAN (meaning “peaceful, calm or serene” in the Maa language of the Maasai people)

An exclusive wilderness camp set alongside a secluded valley flanking the Mara River close to the Siria Escarpment. The private marquee tents are set in the shade of large Oleadendra & Walburgia trees that cover the site, a tranquil setting that borders one of the finest Game Reserves in the world.

The Maasai Mara, is the northernmost extension of the Serengeti and a gem in itself. The camp operates throughout the year, the migration of wildebeest covers July through October, quickly followed by the birthing season from October to March. April and May offer the best opportunities for keen ornithologists and those wishing to enjoy the solitude and verdant green of the quiet season.

The “bedroom” marquee is fitted with large double beds flanked by twin bedside tables and a writing desk. The adjoining “bush bathroom” area includes a shower, twin basins, and large bush bathtub and flush toilet. Hanging swathes of cotton and canvas walls provide complete privacy.

The Mess deck and indoor fireplace leave one with the impression of having found a home from home! Enjoying an expansive view of the Mara river and the Oloololo escarpment, the deck area plays host to a great deal of wining & dining.

Ngare-Serian is a four-tent extension on the other side of the Mara River upstream from the main camp. Access is via foot-bridge!
