HOME
Mara Plains Camp (formerly Film Safaris Camp) is hidden in a grove of
natural forest on the bends of the Ntiakitiak River that cuts through
the Olare Orok Conservancy, an exclusive Maasai owned conservation
area on the northern boundary of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Forty five thousand acres of privacy at the heart of Kenya’s annual
wildebeest migration and a vital dry season resource for a diversity
of wildlife ensures great game viewing throughout the year. Mara
Plains is helping pioneer a new and successful conservation
partnership with the Maasai landowners, which benefit conservation,
wildlife and the local communities.
Mara Plains Camp has been founded by two film producer cameramen
combining their expertise for a unique insight into the world of
natural history film making and animal behavior: Warren Samuels, a
naturalist and well known wildlife cameraman of BBC Big Cat Diary fame
with over twenty years experience filming countless natural history
productions; and Rob O’Meara whose experience in production and
post-production with years of editing and graphic design puts the
stories together. Here is a chance to experience the best of Africa -
unscripted, undirected and wildly rated.
Sean Hartley, an experienced Kenyan guide and established
photographer, hosts the camp. By pre-arrangement, and subject to
availability, Warren or Rob offer their expertise. All share a keen
desire to impart their considerable knowledge and passion for the wild
to anyone eager to listen, learn and watch with them.
