Chada Katavi Camp

Click on the pictures for larger images!

Under a canopy of tall trees, the evening campfire spot invites sundown game watching while enjoying fine wines and mouth watering appetizers.

Katavi is one of the greatest experiences in Africa! A million wild acres from anywhere, Chada camp is hidden on a shady spit of acacias and tamarinds on the edge of the Chada plain and  perfectly positioned for panoramic views over the plain.

Hidden in the trees that flank it are six guest tents, with fine wooden furniture, and large comfortable beds spread with crisp white Egyptian cottons, and floors covered with thick woven rugs. The tents are large, romantic and airy with many shade netting windows to allow the cool breezes through. The bathrooms are bush deluxe, and set just behind each tent. And to cap it all, the thoroughly good white wine sitting on your porch table is perfectly chilled.

The elegant comfortable furnishings in the library tent provide a place to relax or read.

The library tent is a great place for pre dinner cocktails or a night cap!

Dining at Chada is a splendid experience with fine crystal and china gleaming in the lamplight, and a wonderful variety of gourmet fare that will daily surprise and delight. Linger after dinner for engaging conversation and after dinner drinks as the resident  African Scops owl serenades from above!

Friendly, smiling staff are always on hand to serve a refreshing  beverage of your choice!

The bottomless cooler has a wide variety of cold drinks!

The six wide spacious guest safari tents are romantic and airy with large shade netting windows to let in lots of light and cool breezes.

Soft solar lamplight bedside adds a romantic charm along with cotton his & her robes.

The bathroom tent is bush deluxe and set just a few steps away from bed tent.

The airy bathroom tent is super spacious and private. Do not worry, it is connected to the tent by a closed in walk-way.

There is nothing like a traditional safari style  bucket shower! The shower area is outdoors under the trees, adjacent to bath tent and surrounded by a tall bamboo wall for privacy.  Hot water is available upon request (and will add, it was very fast service!)

Bath time is a special experience with wildlife in view! Cold water is plentiful and provided in large pitchers. Hot water carafes are delivered early each morning.

Huge, soft towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, tissues and soapsuds (for rinsing out undergarments) are provided!

Safari style long drop toilets.

For the truly adventuresome, fly camping brings you to the very heart of the Katavi wilderness.   It is an experience of a lifetime!

At fly camp, Chada's fabulous bush chefs are on hand for open air meals and will ensure your wine glass is never empty!

Sleeping with only a mosquito net between you and the night sky, the experience is inimitable. The roaring campfire and lanterns surrounding your sleep area flicker throughout the night. A  private bush toilet awaits in the trees a few steps from camp.  Awake next morning to a glorious sunrise and  the delightful smell of coffee and breakfast.  Top off the experience with a guided walking safari!

The roomy vehicles provide special comforts - plenty of legroom, large canvas pockets for stowing cameras, jacket, etc.;  a wooden platform behind driver keeps complimentary candies, tissues, bug sprays and flyswatters within easy reach!  Guides are super attentive, friendly, and provide expert  knowledge of wildlife, flora and fauna.
