What this site is all about

It's a non-commercial flight around Africa on your desktop while planning your safari!

Imagine taking off in a hot-air balloon from Seronera in the central Serengeti and drifting slowly towards the Ngorongoro Crater! Along the way you see roads, landmarks, rivers, camp sites and lodges.   To the east, the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro looms large against the blue sky, to the west there is the  blue waters of Lake Victoria, to the south the endless plains of the mighty Serengeti and to the North the escarpments of the Masai Mara.

Welcome to the world of Google Earth (GE) and to the Africa of our dreams! Using our trusted GPS, we've identified and visited hundreds of interesting waypoints in East & Southern Africa. These are all available to you as you plan your next visit to Africa!

As you fly with GE, remember to zoom in and out for more or less detail. You can tilt the image to get a 3D view of the terrain. When you see a landmark that you want to explore (e.g. a lodge), just double-click on the label. We are always adding new pictures, web-URLs and descriptions to these waypoints.

For example, let's say you want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro but you are unsure about the routes to the summit! With GE and our waypoints, you get a 3D view of the routes and the mountain! It will look something like this:

Now you know what we're talking about!

But we need your help!

Do you think this site is useful? Can you imagine how great it can be if all visitors to our site contribute photographs and/or information to freely share with others?

For example:

Photographs of safari lodges/camps are very useful when planning safaris. Brochure and stock pictures are nice but rarely show a place as it really is!  Please send us some pictures of the lodges/camps/hotels you visited while on safari. We will add your credits to the pictures before attaching it to the waypoints in GE!

Do you have trip reports or descriptions of your safaris? Please send us a URL and we will link to it from the GE waypoint!

Do you travel with a small GPS? If not, please buy one before your next safari and mark the waypoints of interesting landmarks. It will be great if you can verify the location of our waypoints with your own, or even send us new waypoints of interesting safari landmarks!
